About George Michael
Rob aka George Michael is a familiar face so to speak having forged a very successful career impersonating the pop star George Michael and in the process becoming something of a star himself. Not only does Rob sound just like George Michael, the resemblence is so great that when Rob appeared as George on Granada TV's 'Stars In Their Eyes' in 1994 that the programmes make up department had to tone down his natural appearance before the transformation took place so as not to give the game away to the audience.
His career as a George Michael tribute started via Karaoke when the compere first commentated that his voice was just like George's. He then went onto enter a competition at which he went down a storm. His performance of George Michael's 'Faith' and 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' was videotaped and then his friends ensured that he was seen and heard by the right people.
The tape was sent to Granada TV and a few weeks later Rob received a call inviting him to audition for 'Stars In Their Eyes'. He was shortlisted and appeared on the show in June 1994, sounding and looking so convincing that he won the heat and came 4th in the whole contest which was an outstanding achievement considering that he had only been singing on the amateur circuit for a couple of months. Soon after his appearance on TV his phone started ringing off the hook and the work offers started flooding in. This is when Rob says that things toally changed for him.
Rob's singing career really took off and he has never looked back. He has appeared all over the world and was chosen by Sony to promote the 25 Live album and also Universal used Rob to promote George Michael`s debut acting career in the hit show "Eli Stone".
"I always ensure my audiences have fun" says Rob. "When it comes to having a good time 'I'm Your Man' ".
